TRIP INFORMATION

Nemjung stands tall at 7,140m (7.140km) and lies in the Manang district of Nepal within the boundary of Nepal with China. This mountain is part of the great Peri mountain range. It lies to the northwest of the great Manaslu.

The route followed to climb Nemjung is home to the breathtaking forest of rhododendron, pine trees and magnolias. Besides these, one can also spot various rare animals on their way.

This route also has many glaciers, rivers, waterfalls and other stunning views that make the trip to reach the summit more enjoyable and exciting. Once reaching the top, the moun

tain welcomes its climbers with magnificent views of the mountains like the Gangapurna, Annapurna I, Annapurna II etc. Climbers have described the climb to Nemjung as one of the most beautiful climbs that they ever had.

Nemjung Climbing Difficulties

Like every other high mountain, challenges like altitude sickness are faced even while climbing Nemjung. However, the most challenging thing that one has to face during their expedition to Nemjung is the topography.

Climbers have to go through continuously exposed parts with steep topography, which is always hard to pass. Even for climbers with previous experiences, it causes problems.

If the topography wasn’t enough to cause challenges, the unpredictable weather adds more difficulties for its climbers who wish to reach the summit of Nemjung.

The continuously exposed and steep portions of the mountain are always opposing the climbers, who want to win over Nemjung. Also, the altitude sickness and unpredictable weather that one has to face due to the massive height of Nemjung is not something to take lightly.

When is Nemjung usually climbed?

The climb to the Nemjung expedition is much easier during spring and autumn. During these seasons, the weather is comparatively warm and the chances of heavy snowfall and avalanches are less.

Climbers don’t do expeditions in winter much as the temperature is harsher than other times. Also, there will be heavy snowfalls and chances of avalanches high during winter.

How hard is it to climb Nemjung?

Climbing Nemjung is as hard as climbing other tall mountains. There are chances of altitude sickness, and the weather is unpredictable like that of other mountains.

Also, the topography of this mountain is burdensome, which makes climbing more dangerous. The continuously exposed portions, which are even steep, are always a big problem for the climbers to overcome.

However, with experienced guidance and preparation, one can have a safe and successful climb to the summit.

How long does it take to climb Nemjung?

Climbing Nemjung might be an adventurous, thrilling and self-refreshing activity, yet its massive height makes it dangerous. So, making a rush might not be the best thing to do considering your safety.

The overall adventure of climbing Nemjung takes around 32 days. During these 32 days, it takes about ten days to reach the base camp.
