Nanga Parbat Expedition – 50 Days Overview
The world’s 9th tallest mountain, Nanga Parbat stands tall at a height of 8,126m (8.126km). It lies in the northern part of Pakistan and is famous as ‘Diamer’ among the Pakistani people which translates into ‘huge mountain in Tibetan’. The venture on the Nanga Parbat Expedition is once in a lifetime experience. The name ‘Nanga Parbat’ was modified to ‘Nanga Parbat’ which means ‘the naked mountain’ in the Sanskrit language.
As the name suggests, the mountain has very steep sides due to which not much of the snow can accumulate here and cover it entirely. Hence, the mountain remains naked without much snow covering it. Nanga Parbat Expedition gives a chance to experience the unbelievable beauty of nature as well as the massive-sized mountains.
The first mission to Nanga Parbat was led by a British team in 1895, but it was climbed by a joint Austrian-German expedition in 1953. Hermann Buhl completed the last ascent in a grueling 41-hour solo effort without oxygen. Before the first summit in 1953, Nanga Parbat claimed 31 lives. Although the usual path is less challenging, it is longer and more exposed. Mountaineers have attempted to climb their top using various climbing routes, but only a few have been successful.
Nanga Parbat has the Rupal face at the west which is the world’s highest mountain face. Besides this, the climbers can also experience the beauty of the Fairy Meadows. On the way to Nanga Parbat, you can find the beautiful grasslands known as Fairy Meadows. A Japanese photographer named these grasslands the Fairy Meadow. These areas also have wide pine forests which are home to many amazing plants and animals.
Intrepid mountaineers face an incredible challenge on Nanga Parbat. Get ready to be enthralled by the story of daring climbers who attempt to scale its perilous slopes and freezing summits. This captivating trip offers an amazing voyage of fortitude, tenacity, and the unrelenting quest of passing nature’s toughest test, from the heart-pounding ascent over difficult terrain to the stunning panoramas that await at the summit.

Difficulty to climb
Despite having mesmerizing beauty and great views, the climb to Nanga Parbat is a difficult one. Apart from the altitude sickness and unpredictable weathers, this mountain faces a lot of avalanches too. Every slope around is capable of causing avalanches if not dealt properly. The topography of this mountain is another challenge as it requires as much technical climbing skills as that for climbing Mt.K2. Its west side consists of rocks and ice forming a single wall, called the Rupal face which has established Nanga Parbat as the most intimidating mountain and was famous as the ‘ Killer Mountain’. Climbing this mountain requires extreme skills and techniques as even the routes are full of narrow ridges.
Nanga Parbat with the best Expedition company
Nanga Parbat welcomes its traveller to the mesmerizing beauty of nature with magnificent views. However, like every other mountain measuring more than 8,000m, climbing Nanga Parbat also has its own challenges. Besides the usual altitude sickness and unpredictable weather of the mountains, the climbers have to face constant risk of avalanches while climbing Nanga Parbat. Also, the Rupal face, which is the western side of the mountain stands as the highest mountain face and is hard to climb as it stands as a single mass of rocks and ice. So, even though the climb is refreshing and adventurous, this climbing mountain remains as difficult as climbing Mt.K2 and needs experienced guidance.
