Gasherbrum I Expedition – 50 Days Overview
Mt.Gasherbrum I, often referred to as the ‘hidden peak‘, is the tallest peak within the Gasherbrum peaks. It is the 11th tallest in the world, with height 8,091m(8.091km). This mountain is also referred to as ‘Mt.K5‘ as it is the 5th peak of the great Karakoram mountain range. The Karakoram range comprises a total of 35 peaks. The name Gasherbrum came from the words ‘rgasha‘ and ‘brum‘ meaning ‘beautiful mountain‘ in Balti language. The mountain’s remote location and its invisibility from the Baltoro Glacier have earned it the title of the ‘hidden peak’. Gasherbrum I Expedition introduces you to the thrilling venture to the top of the hidden peak.
Mt.Gasherbrum lies in the border of China and Pakistan and is a good option for anyone who wants to try low risked technical climbing. Climbers have to go through steep trails of snow at first. As they climb upward they have to go through frozen rocks. Once they cross these, the climbing becomes easier near the top due to mixed slopes which are easy to climb. Even though Gasherbrum I Expedition is the least popular among other 8,000 m peaks, it still offers you with excellent and breathtaking views of the massive peaks and the expedition itself is refreshing.
Despite the challenging trip, reaching the pinnacle is incomparably rewarding. You will comprehend why the mountains have always been cherished as sacred and mysterious locations when you stand atop the world, surrounded by an unending sea of peaks. Prepare yourself for a virtual ascent and join us as we explore the allure and difficulties of the Gasherbrum I Expedition.

Difficulty to climb
Mt.Gasherbrum is comparatively easier to climb in the matter of technical climbing than other mountains like Mt.K2, Nanga Parbat. But this doesn’t mean the climb to Mt.gasherbrum can be underestimated. Only few experienced climbers have tried to climb this mountain because of which the rate of successful attempts is low in comparison to other mountains.
The climbers have to go past the not so convenient Gasherbrum glacier. Once they are through the glacier, the snowy ridges in the south-west face present themselves as another challenge which requires experienced and technical climbing skills.
There are also mixed snowy ridges and slopes that the climbers have to pass before reaching the summit. Besides these technical challenges, there are also chances of avalanches as they move upwards towards the higher altitude.
